A. Nominations
1.
Who may nominate for the position of Directors of the
society?
a.
Living Filipino citizen
b.
Current holder of Valid PRC license in Geology
c.
Members who are on the 2008 GSP roster of members
2.
Who may be nominated and elected as Directors of the
society?
a.
Living Filipino citizen
b.
Current holder of Valid PRC license in Geology
c.
Members who are on the 2008 GSP roster of members
3.
Who may not be nominated?
a.
Associate, Honorary and Industrial Members of the GSP
b.
CPE Council Representative (Pablito Ong Rudy Obial and
Rogelio Laraya)
c.
Examiners of the Board of Geology (Emmanuel Tamesis,
Francisco Navarro and
Rudy Obial)
d.
Members of the COMELEC (Amelia M. de Guzman, Angela P.
Revilla, Ness A. Santos)
e.
Any person who has served for five consecutive years as
Directors of the Society
(none
this year)
f.
Current
president of the GSP because he will be an ex-officio Board
member
next year (Alberto P. Morillo)
4.
How many can any member nominate?
Any
member can nominate up to nine (9) nominees. It is the duty
of members
to ensure that their nominees
satisfy the criteria listed in Items 2 and 3.
5.
When and to whom should the nomination forms be submitted?
Nomination forms will be circulated starting 5 November
2008.
Nomination form can be
downloaded here at the bottom of this page.
Upon completion of the form,
members can send their nominations to:

Deadline for submission of
nominees will be at 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon
of 1 December 2008.
B. Casting of Votes
1.
Who may vote?
a.
Living Filipino citizen
b.
Members on the 2008 GSP roster of members
2.
How can members cast their votes?
a.
Members may cast their votes at the COMELEC booth during the
Geological Convention at the Hotel Intercontinental starting
at 10:00 AM of 3 December 2008 until 12:00 noon of 4
December 2008.
b.
Members may vote up to nine (9) Directors of the society
using the official ballot.
c.
Ballots must be signed by members for them to be declared
valid.
C. Canvassing of Votes and
Proclamation of Winners
1.
How will the votes be canvassed?
a.
The COMELEC will canvass the votes right after the closing
of the voting period.
b.
Canvassing will be conducted in the presence of the past
COMELEC members or their authorized representatives.
c.
The COMELEC members and three members of the current Board
of Directors will sign the official results.
2.
When will the winner be proclaimed?
The COMELEC shall proclaim
the winner right after canvassing.
3.
What if there are protests?
The COMELEC shall
consider any protests. Resolution of these protests will be
the sole responsibilities of the COMELEC.
