V. V. BELOUSSOV
Academy of Science of the USSR, Moscow
INTRODUCTION
In a number of earlier works the author
has already raised the question of the
connections existing between the
tectogenesis and the general development
of the earth (Beloussov, 1942-1943:
195li 1954a; 1954b). There are grounds
for believing that by applying the
latest data on geophysics, geochemistry,
and geotectonics we may advance toward a
solution of this problem and may combine
in a general theory a wider complex of
deep and geotectonic processes than has
been possible before. In this article
the author restricts himself to an
account of a general outline of such a
theory, bearing in mind the necessity of
further elaborations of its many
aspects. As we shall see, the character
of the theory enables us to elaborate it
further, not only qualitatively but also
quantitatively.
