along the Philippine Fault estimated
from slip-vectors and regional kinematics

ABSTRACT
The Philippine Fault moves at an average
displacement rate (linear velocity) to 2
to 3 cm/yr
along strike from Southern Luzon to
Mindanao. This figure is arrived at by
employing a thorough method of
estimation that takes into consideration
information from regional kinematics,
earthquake events and recent geological
and tectonic observations. It is of the
same order of magnitude (cm/yr) as that
of the prevailing relative plate
displacement rates in the Philippine
region.
