Abstract

In late 2006, joint venture partners Nido Petroleum Philippines Pty Ltd and PNOC-EC acquired the ‘Talusi’ 2D seismic survey comprising ~3,100 km of new, high quality data over Service Contract (‘SC’) 58 located in the deepwater sector of the NW Palawan margin.

The new seismic data has provided greater insight into the tectono-stratigraphic setting of the deepwater NW Palawan margin and its relationship with the shallow shelfal areas with respect to deepwater petroleum system and play fairway development.

This paper presents a series of transects through the deepwater margin using selected seismic lines from the new ‘Talusi’ 2D seismic survey to illustrate the broad tectono-stratigraphic framework and the implications for deepwater oil and gas exploration.
