ABSTRACT
The chromitite pods and lenses in the
Ulugan Bay area occur as concordant and
discordant
bodies with respect to the metamorphic
banding in the peridotite. Massive,
disseminated and
brecciated forms were observed.
Chromites exhibit Cr/(Cr+Al) ratios in
the range of 0.5-0.75
and are conspicuously low in ferric
iron. Though compositional variations
are rather broad, the
difference seem to be unrelated to
structural level. They are metallurgical
in grade and show in
general the typical composition of
chromites found in Alpine type
peridotite elsewhere.
